Workshops
Our next Workshop:
Sculpture
August 18 & 19 6:00PM - 9:30PM
902 1st Ave S Seattle WA 98134
This workshop on sculpting with Milestone
Hybridized Cement is organized through the Pratt Fine Arts Center.
Please see their website at www.pratt.org
for sign up information.
Note!
Our workshops for Floors, Countertops, Fireplaces and Showers focus on
the preparation of the substrate, the formation of underlying layers and
the shaping of forms as required by the project. If you have no previous
experience working with Milestone we strongly encourage you to also take
a class on Finishes since they are not really
addressed in the other workshops. For that reason we have scheduled
every second workshop to be on Finishes. That way, if you want to build
a countertop you will have the choice of taking a class on Finishes
either right before or after the Countertop Workshop.
Important Information and Price
These will be intense workshops so be ready. Bring old clothes, gloves,
and any favorite plastering tools or safety equipment you would like to
use. All materials and tools necessary will be provided. We
will NOT have a minimum class size on any of the workshops, and there
will be NO class cancellations due to low enrollment. We hope this will
help make it easier for you to plan ahead. A two-day workshop will cost
$300.00. The maximum number of people in any workshop will be 20. We
currently have DVD's on Counter Tops, Floors and Fireplace Surrounds
available. Your choice of one of those will be included in the price of
the class. Please let us know which one you'd like to have in advance.

Finishes Workshop
Description
This workshop will be very
beneficial to you regardless of what your next project may be. You will
be working with several finishes that can be systematically applied on
any surface, in a variety of textures and movement patterns with our
integral color system. A new addition to our workshops will be the
application of the Milestone onto vertical surfaces. In the course of
this workshop you will gain hands-on experience in the application of 3
different finishes as well as 3 different combinations of sealers
needed to sufficiently protect surfaces exposed to moisture, food stains
and heavy usage.
Countertops
Workshop Description
This workshop will give you ideas about how to use Milestone on your own
counter top project. Each student will be given a mock counter top to
build from the plywood substrate up to being prepared for the final
finish using our metal lath method. We will also show you how to go over
existing counter top surfaces such as Formica and tile. All samples
created in class can be taken home.
